The concert, billed as “A Celebration of Community Music,” was both bands’ first time performing together. Abernethy and Mannchen are both from Savage and are eighth grade students at Twin Oaks Middle School.

Lauren Resh is wearing a traditional Irish step dance costume. Her teacher, Rachel Knutson, said the costume’s elaborate and ornate design and bright colors are inspired by the “Book of Kells,” an illuminated Irish manuscript, in Latin, of the New Testament’s four gospels transcribed by Celtic monks.
