The resignation of the Prior Lake-Savage Area School District’s human resources director is the latest in a series of shakeups in the district’s administrative staff.

Tony Massaros, director of human resources, announced that he will resign from the district July 1.

The Prior Lake High School Spanish department will take a trip to Mexico next spring break.

The School Board unanimously passed the proposal during the May 5 meeting that will give students the opportunity to immerse themselves in Mexican culture, practice their oral skills in a Spanish speaking country and take guided tours with a Spanish-speaking tour guide.

Newly hired superintendent Sue Ann Gruver will get a higher salary and more incentive pay than current superintendent Tom Westerhaus, according to salary contract details approved by the Prior Lake-Savage Area School Board Monday.

The Prior Lake-Savage Area School Board unanimously accepted Superintendent Tom Westerhaus’ 2007-08 goal achievement form on Monday night. The School Board will review the form and to use it to evaluate Westerhaus’ performance.

Margo Nash, director of business affairs, told the Prior Lake-Savage Area School Board Monday that there will be a $32,179 decrease in funds from last year affecting six categories of the No Child Left Behind act due to a lack of federal loans.

The allocations are for the 2008-09 school year.

In the same week the state Commissioner of Administration determined that a letter from School Board Member Chris Lind regarding possible litigation against the Prior Lake-Savage Area School District should remain classified as private personnel data, Lind has announced he will not sue the district.

Results of a student survey show both good and bad news when it comes to the behaviors of local boys and girls, the Prior Lake Savage Area School Board heard Monday.

Results of a survey gauging public views on a school referendum will go to the Prior Lake-Savage Area School Board for review on Monday, May 19.

The board will meet at 6 p.m. at the District Services Center, 4540 Tower St., Prior Lake, to discuss the results of the survey conducted by Springsted Inc.
