Matt Mons gained approval as the new director of human resources from the Prior Lake-Savage Area School Board Monday.
The hiring committee recommended Mons to fill the shoes of former Human Resources Director Tony Massaros, who left earlier this summer to work for Lakeville Schools as director of administrative services.
Mons was selected from 15 applicants for the position by a committee of teachers, administrators, staff and board members, along with Superintendent Sue Ann Gruver.
Mons is a recent graduate of the University of St. Thomas Law School.
His Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Thomas was in economics and international studies.
Mons spent much of the last two years as an assistant to Richard John
Miller, an arbitrator and independent hearing office.
In that role, Mons developed his skills in arbitration in both the public and private sector.
Last summer Matt worked for the American Civil Liberties Union of Minnesota reviewing intake files for merit and preparing memoranda related to issues that included disciplinary procedures in public education.
Most recently, he has been a clerk for Ingebritson and Associates.
Mons official began work upon board approval Monday.
