The YMCA of Metropolitan Minneapolis will break ground on a new YMCA at Shepherd’s Path, at McKenna Road and County 42, at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 20.

A picnic lunch, games and activities will follow the groundbreaking ceremony. The celebration also notes the one-year anniversary of McKenna Crossing.

The public is invited to attend.

The newly named River Valley YMCA in Prior Lake will include a natatorium with two pools, an outdoor splash deck, locker rooms, a health and wellness area, a children’s play area including a two-story “playscape” and licensed childcare for children 6 weeks to 5 years. There will be YMCA programs and activities for children, youth and adults.

The anticipated opening of the new YMCA will be early fall 2009.
