After Led Zeppelin took the stage in London on Dec. 10 for reunion show benefiting Ahmet Ertegun, rumors of the Zep hopping the pond and playing a show in the United States have been running wild.
But no dates have been set, confirmed or officially announced.
In my opinion, I would be very surprised to see an extended U.S. tour from the band.
As a matter of fact, Robert Plant announced that he will be touring the United States with none other than Allison Krause this spring (the duo recently put out an album).
I heard mention Zeppelin headlining the jam-band based Bonnaroo Music Festival this summer on KQRS, but the Bonnaroo Web site has denied Zeppelin as a headliner.
I have heard rumors of the band playing Madison Square Garden, but nothing has been set.
So the rumors will have to stay just that—rumors.
I don’t think Zeppelin will play in the United States in 2008, but if they do what songs would you like to hear?
What venues would you like to see Zeppelin play?
The benefit show was the first time since the death of drummer John Bonham that the band got together to play.
The set list let some down, but with a hit list like Zeppelin they can’t possibly please everyone.
Here was the set list:
“Good Times, Bad Times.” “Ramble On,” “Black Dog,” “In My Time of Dying,” “For Your Life,” “Trampled Under Foot,” “Nobody’s Fault But Mine,” “No Quarter,” “Since I’ve Been Lovin’ You,” “Dazed and Confused,” “Stairway To Heaven,” “The Song Remains the Same,” “Misty Mountain Hop,” Kashmir,” and the band encored with “Whole Lotta Love” and “Rock and Roll.”
Here is my wish list:
I would love to see Zeppelin play The Gorge, Alpine Valley or an intimate show at Red Rocks.
As for the set list:
“Good Times, Bad Times,” “Ramble On,” Over the Hills and Far Away,” “Dazed and Confused,” “Tangerine,” Achille’s Last Stand,” “Bron Yr Aur Stomp,” “Communication Breakdown,” “Dyer Maker,” “Fool in the Rain.” “Going to California,” “Hey, Hey, What Can I Do,” “Immigrant Song,” “Kashmir,” “Moby Dick,” and an encore of “What is What Should Never Be,” and “The Song Remains the Same.”
What are some of your favorite Led Zeppelin songs?
What band from yesteryear do you wish would reunite for a U.S. tour?
