I watched my first boxing match this weekend. It definitely wasn't what I planned to do on a Saturday night, but what Saturday night ever turns out as planned?
You've got to roll with the punches.
Which was exactly what I did when girls'-night out turned into a girls'-night in watching the Mayweather vs. Hatton fight on pay-per-view.
A friend's husband had ordered it, and my friend wanted to watch it, too. I figured if she liked boxing, I was game. We typically like the same things.
So, we moved the party there.
Of course, we added our own spin to boxing night - wine, cute little hors d'oevres, and people pummeling the heck out of eachother? It somehow worked.
I was surprised to see celebs, including Brad and Angelina, attend the event in Vegas. They seem too world-peace oriented to like something as barbaric as boxing.
Apparently, "Fight Club" rubbed off on Brad?
I'm not sure it was the evening my friend's husband had in mind when he'd ordered the fight.
My comments about the light-weight boxers ("I haven't been that skinny since eighth grade!) probably didn't help.
Still, we had a great evening. We even suggested that sitting in front of the fireplace watching boxing may become our new holiday tradition.
So much for a cookie exchange!
