Police received four noise complaints between midnight and 12:10 a.m. on Saturday due to noise coming from a smokers’ tent located at Captain Jack’s, 3950 Green Heights Trail.
Police officers verified the high noise level and told smokers to go inside, Lt. Randy Hofstad said. The smokers all agreed, but police were called back for a noise complaint a few minutes later due to a new group of smokers being loud in the smokers’ area. Again, police told the people to go inside.
Officers followed up by speaking with a manager at Captain Jack’s the following day about the noise complaints and gave the manager copies of the city ordinances.
Managers at Captain Jack’s were compliant with police and put signs up that read “no alcohol outside” and “keep quiet while smoking,” police said.
No other noise complaints have since been reported, Hofstad said.
Captain Jack’s was the only restaurant to have noise complaints since the smoking ban went into effect on Oct. 1, Lt. Randy Hofstad said. Captain Jack’s is the only bar in a residential area; other establishments are located on Highway 13 or downtown.
