Have you heard what Dubai is doing?

Dubai City, in the United Arab Emirates, has done the impossible, quite literally: it has created more than 300 man-made islands in the Persian Gulf off the coast of its mainland, including three palm-shaped islands and 300 smaller islands that actually make up the shape of all seven continents. Each of the three main islands have massive hotels and luxury homes, roads and infrastructure to serve as many as a quarter of a million people at a time.

The far-out demands of an oil-rich Sheikh were made possible by incredible, previously untried and unimagined technological and architectural feats.
