P.L.A.Y. youth baseball night
The Lakers will celebrate P.L.A.Y. youth baseball night when they take on St. Louis Park at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 9, at Memorial Park’s Veterans Field in Prior Lake.
All youth players who wear their P.L.A.Y. uniform or jersey will receive free admission to the game, as well as a hot dog and drink, and they will also be eligible for numerous prizes and giveaways.
Parking is limited at Memorial Park, but additional parking is available at nearby Westwood Elementary School.

Flag football program forming
The P.L.A.Y. football program is proposing to offer flag football this fall for second- and third-graders. The program is designed to be fun, developmental and instructional.
The program will need a coordinator to help promote it and get it started. If you are interested in the position or would like to volunteer in other ways, contact Dan Feine at dan.feine@integra.net. The position needs to be filled by June.

Backcourt Club meeting set
The Laker boys’ Backcourt Club, which supports the Prior Lake High School basketball program, has scheduled a meeting for 6-7:30 p.m. on Monday, May 5, in the PLHS lecture hall to discuss summer basketball: practices, leagues, tournaments, speed and agility, etc. Those attending should bring their summer calendars.

Girls’ Blue Line Club to meet
The Laker Girls’ Blue Line Club, which supports the Prior Lake High School hockey program, has scheduled its next meeting for 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, in Room 125 at PLHS.

Boys’ lacrosse youth night
The Laker boys’ lacrosse program will be holding a youth night when it plays host to Robbinsdale-Armstrong at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, at Twin Oaks Middle School in Prior Lake. Youth players are invited to wear their lacrosse attire and bring their sticks to the game. There will be a raffle and a shot-on-goal event at halftime.

Girls’ lacrosse fundraiser set
In an effort to help the community and raise funds, the Laker girls’ lacrosse team will clean two streets in Prior Lake on Saturday, May 3. The team is seeking donations in exchange for its work.
Checks can be made out to the Laker Athletic Booster Club and sent to: LABC, 4578 Hummingbird Trail, Prior Lake, MN 55372. For more information, call 451-1774.

Laker volleyball camp on tap
A Laker volleyball camp has been scheduled for July 21-25 at PLHS with beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.
The advanced camp (for those entering grades 9-12) costs $115 before June 5 or $125 after that, with sessions running daily from 8-11 a.m.
The intermediate camp (entering grades 7-8) costs $65 before June 5 or $75 after that, with sessions running daily from 12-2:30 p.m.
The beginner camp (entering grades 3-6) costs $55 before June 5 or $65 after that, with sessions running daily from 3-4:30 p.m.

Laker tennis camp scheduled
PLHS tennis coaches Laurie Friedges and Corey Soukup will be conducting a summer camp the week of June 9-13 for those entering grades 3-8. The cost is $50.
The camp, which focuses on teaching basic skills through drills and demonstration, will be held at the PLHS tennis courts.
Sessions for those entering grades 3-5 will run from 9-10:30 a.m., while sessions for those entering grades 6-8 will run from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

P.L.A.Y seeks concessions help
The Prior Lake Athletics for Youth (P.L.A.Y.) program is looking for a concessions associate/summer assistant to help with concessions and other general member needs in the upcoming season.
The person should have familiarity with concessions or the P.L.A.Y. program. For more info, go to www.playinfo.org and click on the “wanted” notice.

Dynamics Gym open house
Dynamics Gymnastics will have holding an open house on Sunday, April 27, from 12:30-3 p.m. The event will feature gymnastics demonstrations. Summer tennis programs
Summer is almost here, and the Shakopee Tennis Association is gearing up for its summer programs.
Summer program registration for youth lessons, adult programs and junior team tennis is going on now at www.shakopeetennis.org. Junior team tennis registration closes May 18, and practice starts May 19. Youth lesson and adult program registration continue until the session starts.
The Shakopee Tennis Association will be hosting a tennis block party on May 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Shakopee Junior High/Stans Park courts. There will be games, food and prizes. This will also be an opportunity to meet the staff and instructors and learn more about the Shakopee Tennis Association summer programs.
The Shakopee Tennis Association will be hosting a USTA Recreational Coaches Workshop on June 15 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This clinic is designed for coaches, high school varsity players, park and rec tennis instructors, and parents who want to improve their techniques and learn about the latest program developments from the USTA. The cost is $10 and lunch is provided. There are a limited number of scholarships available for high school varsity players. TAGS Gymnastics registration
TAGS Gymnastics is now accepting registrations for all summer camps and sessions. Cheer and Tumbling Camps, Gold Gymnastics Camps and Junior Gym Camps will be offered for all ages in the Eden Prairie and Apple Valley locations.
The nine-week session is for ages 2-18 and begins June 9 with unlimited makeup classes over the summer. For more information, go to www.tagsgym.com.
