I am a big fan of Torii Hunter.

The only thing I can think when I hear the idea of him being traded flying around the media is why?

I feel that the Twins NEED to sign Justin Morneau and Johan Santana. Probably Michael Cuddyer as well. I would like to see Joe Nathan stick around, but we can't keep everyone.

Can we get a player or players with the work ethic, ability and attitude that Hunter has? I don't believe so.

I say keep Hunter.

First of all, let me say...

First of all, let me say that I'm a big Shawn Hogendorf fan.

Next, I don't think it's necessarily a matter of should they trade him, it's a matter of can they resign him?

According to all those oh-so-credible trade rumor web sites out there, Hunter has been getting a lot of interest from Texas.

That's a bummer for the Twins for two reasons: first, Hunter's hometown is 45 minutes outside of Arlington and second, the Rangers have a lot more money to throw around than the Twins.

That said, the Twins should only trade Hunter if they don't feel they can resign him at the end of the year, obviously.

So can they?

Maybe, but they'll have to prioritize. Shawn said he thinks they need to resign Morneau and Santana.

I agree with that. But if you're going to resign a Cy Young winner and an MVP, you're going to have to dole out some big bucks.

So the question is, will they have enough money to sign another All-Star-calibur player?

I don't know the Twins' finance situation, but I doubt it. While fans of small-market franchises like this take pride in being small market, these are the times when it comes back to bite you.

My opinion is, if you can sign Santana and Morneau, do it. I know everyone loves Hunter, but if you can't do it, then you can't do it.

At least trade him now and get something out of it, while every half-decent team still thinks they have a shot of making the playoffs and will part with their good minor league players and/or grizzled veterans.

And just so everyone knows, the Brewers are way better than the Twins.

No doubt, keep up the good work.

The Twins are only 5 games...

The Twins are only 5 games out of the Wildcars and 6 from the division lead with 2 1/2 months to go.

Yes, you have to worry about being able to sign Hunter, Morneau and Santana, along with Joe Nathan. However, if the Twins put themselves into position to win the AL Central again or in contention for the wildcard, you have to try to win.

That means keeping Hunter, who is having a big-time season, and biting the bullet afterward. I'm sure the Twins will add a veteran player if they are in contention.

If the Twins slide out of contention by the end of July, then yes, trade Hunter.

ok this is what i think.

Torii Hunter is an amazing player and we can't afford to trade him.
He is outstandinng in the outfeild and he can hit homeruns. he also has great sportsmenship.

I think we should hang on to joe nathan because he is a great closer for us.
Justin I guess hes ok but hes been sucking it up lately.
We should hang on to santana because hes like our only good pitcher.
If we should trade anyone it should be boef he gives up so many hits.

So don't trade Hunter!
