Mediacom Communications and The History Channel have teamed up to present “Take a Veteran to School Day,” an educational initiative that will give Prior Lake-Savage Area School District students face-to-face contact and interaction with veterans who have devoted parts of their lives to military service.

On Wednesday, Nov. 11, students at Five Hawks Elementary School will participate in a special Veterans Day assembly that will include a discussion with two veterans who are Minnesota residents and Mediacom employees.

The guest veterans are Matt Yasgar and Bill Jensen of Waseca. Yasgar served in the U.S. Air Force from 1997-2005 as a senior airman. Jensen is a veteran of both the U.S. Army active duty (1975-77) and Army Reserve (1977-97). As an Army paratrooper, he earned the Army Commendation Medal for his peacetime performance in flood relief operations in West Virginia.The student assembly at Five Hawks will be at 10 a.m. The History Channel and Mediacom will provide the students with military-green T-shirts and plastic wrist bands.
