Shakopee Police arrested an 18-year-old Prior Lake man early this morning for the armed robbery of Burger King late Tuesday night.

The man is also suspected of attempting to rob Payless Gas Station on Monday evening.

The suspect was booked into Scott County Jail at 4:21 a.m. on suspicion of aggravated robbery. Formal charges are pending with the Scott County Attorney's Office.

No more information was immediately available from police. Check back later for further updates.

The suspect was convicted in June of destroying a motel room in Lakeville in April.

He was also initially charged in connection with the beating and robbery of a 74-year-old Prior Lake woman in April 2008, but prosecutors later dropped those charges.

The suspect, who was wearing a red bandana robbed Burger King in Shakopee by gunpoint late Tuesday and may have tried robbing a gas station the night before.

The man, who displayed a black handgun and knife, followed an employee through the back door of Burger King about 11:50 p.m. after the store closed and the employee was taking out the trash. He fled on foot with a small amount of cash. The restaurant is located on the corner of Marschall Road and First Avenue.

At Payless Gas, 312 First Ave. W. in Shakopee, a man approached the counter to buy something about 7:30 p.m. Monday. When the clerk opened the register, he tried to grab cash from the till, but was unsuccessful and fled on foot. No weapon was shown.

The suspect is described as a while male between 20 and 25 years old with a slim build and about 5 feet 8 inches tall. He wore a red or orange sweatshirt with the hood up, and, at Burger King, also had long
brown shorts on and a red bandana covering his mouth.
