Bring back
car, bike
cruises
I read with sadness the article from the Chamber of Commerce that there was not going to be a car and motorcycle cruise this year at Lakefront Days because of “safety concerns.”
Last year, the Prior Lake police did a magnificent job in keeping the cruises completely safe and enjoyable for the drivers and the homeowners, who look forward to this event each year.
The car cruise is the highlight of Lakefront Days. Hundreds of homeowners with their friends and family say this is what they look forward to most in the summer.
Prior Lake residents did not have any say in this cancellation. Is anyone getting a little tired of things being taken away from you by a few people, whether it be government officials or one person in charge of a particular organization?
Let’s get the cruise back. Call Sandi Fleck at the Prior Lake Chamber of Commerce at (952) 440-1000 and Mayor Jack Haugen at (952) 440-8200.

Pesticides
harm us and
the earth
Please, before you consider using a pesticide of any sort for emerald ash or weeds in your yard, read the book “Silent Spring” by Rachel Carson to save the earth and maybe even your life.
Any pesticide is dangerous to your health and especially to the earth. Go green.

Prior Lake
A grassroots
group
effort
Hello to Prior Lake residents. I would like to thank all of those who were able to attend the first Prior Lake Environment Grass Roots Organization meeting. It was encouraging that so many responded.
I would like to thank Kathy at Home Accents Etc. for talking about their efforts to include environmentally friendly products in their gift store.
Discussions will include reduce, reuse, recycle as well as energy issues. The grassroots meeting will be every third Tuesday of the month from 7 to 9 p.m. For anyone interested, please call Mary Quinn at (952) 445-8726.

Prior Lake
Why can’t
they get
it right?
You have to start to wonder if the City Council and Planning Commission will ever get it right in the Boudin neighborhood.
One of the oldest neighborhoods in Prior Lake is being thrown aside in the name of progress. We paid for the McCombs study in 2004 only to ignore its recommendations to maintain a small boutique look and feel. As a community, we spent years developing a vision plan to now ignore it when it doesn’t fit a short-term opportunity for tax revenue. We developed a comprehensive land-use plan to guide developments and protect the residents. It very clearly says we shouldn’t put commercial projects in residents’ back yards. The council decided to ignore that as well.
The city is faced with unprecedented commercial vacancies and somehow this is needed? If we are going to just trample the residents in a weak effort to balance the budget, then why not just level the neighborhood now and save us the headache?
