The resignation of the Prior Lake-Savage Area School District’s human resources director is the latest in a series of shakeups in the district’s administrative staff.
Tony Massaros, director of human resources, announced that he will resign from the district July 1.
Massaros submitted his resignation notice to the district on May 9. He said he has accepted an offer for a director of administrative services job in the Lakeville School District.
“This is very much a ‘career move’ for me, bringing increased responsibility and authority in a larger school district,” Massaros wrote in an e-mail to staff announcing his resignation.
The Prior Lake-Savage Area School Board will consider Massaros’ resignation request at its May 19 meeting. Also on the May 19 agenda is a discussion on replacing Massaros.
Last November, voters rejected a bond and levy referendum and elected School Board Member Chris Lind, a fired school employee, prompting Superintendent Tom Westerhaus to announce he will resign on July 1.
The district administrative staff also has seen jobs lost to budget cuts and retirements this year, including the retirement of Director of Operations Dan Mehleis and the elimination of the Student Services Coordinator position, currently held by Sharon Boyer-Jacobs.
