Edward H. Klein

Edward H. Klein, 85, of Shakopee, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Friendship Manor Nursing Home in Shakopee. Edward KleinEdward Klein

He was born in Chanhassen on May 7, 1924 to Paul and Catherine (Breeggemann) Klein. He married Agnes Dvorak on April 29, 1948, in Deephaven, Minn. He attended St. Hubert’s Catholic School in Chanhassen.

Ed served in the United States Army during World War II, earning a Purple Heart, both Bronze and Silver Stars, and a combat infantry badge; he was a lifetime member of both the American Legion Post 2 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars 4046 in Shakopee. He was a member of the James Campbell Council 1685 Knights of Columbus in Shakopee. He worked for nearly 30 years at Rock Spring Bottling Works and 10 years at Minnesota Wanner Products. He was a volunteer for St. Mark’s Catholic Church and at the Catholic Cemetery; he also participated in perpetual adoration. His hobbies included fishing, playing cards, farming, lawn and yard work, and he was a handy man for his family and his neighbors.

Survived by sons and daughters, Richard (Bonnie) Klein of Shakopee, Nancy (Robert) Heimkes of Prior Lake, Susan (Gary) Hartmann of Shakopee, Barb (Steve) Kurvers of Shakopee, Donna Woods of Prior Lake, Mary Lou (Tim) Oakes of Minnetonka, Jeff (Karla) Klein of Prior Lake, Elaine (Dave) Anton of Shakopee, Cathy (Mike) Cassidy of Savage, Annie (Pete) Green of Shakopee; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Viola Stemig of Jordan; sisters-in-law, Betty Klein of Chanhassen and Lillian Notermann of Shakopee; brother-in-law, Bob (Rita) Dvorak of Minnetonka. Preceded in death by loving wife, Agnes (Dvorak), and brother, Lawrence.

Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, June 12, at 11 a.m. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Shakopee, with the Rev. Timothy L. Norris officiating. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Jesse Hartmann, Sam Anton, Jake and Ben Green, Tony Heimkes, and Logan Cassidy. His grandson Tom Hartmann was an Honorary Pallbearer. Visitation was Thursday, June 11, from 4-8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at McNearney Funeral Home, Shakopee. Interment at Catholic Cemetery. Military rites were provided by the Shakopee Veterans Memorial Unit.

Tom Reidner

Thomas “Tom” Reidner, 70, of Shakopee, passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 15, 2009 in Custer State Park, S.D.

Tom was born June 21, 1938 in Ladysmith, Wis. to parents, Walter and Harriet (Sill) Reidner. He married Roberta “Bobbie” O’Connor on Jan. 27, 1968 in Ladysmith. He served our country in the United States Navy. Tom loved putzing around the home, his yard and with his children’s cars. He was a member of the Teamsters’ Local 120 and camped at Custer State Park for 32 years. He loved his grandchildren and family very much. He was a truck driver for Alliant Food Services.

He will be loved and forever missed by his wife, Bobbie; children, Ronda (Dan) Osuldsen of Ladysmith, Jolene (Richard) Fuss of Forest Lake, Minn., Barry (Dawn) Reidner of Dorchester, Wis., Angie (Randy) Geiser of Shakopee; Erin (Brian) Benesch of Fridley; grandchildren, Lacey (Brent) Sinn, Jason Reidner, Britni Osuldsen, Breanna Fuss, Molly Osuldsen, Justin Little, Cody Geiser, Ashlee Fuss, Ryan Geiser.

Preceded in death by his grandson, Kyle Osuldsen; parents; step-father, Frank Sonczalla.

Visitation will be Monday, June 22, from 4-8 p.m. and also Tuesday, June 23, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, Shakopee.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, June 23, at 10 a.m. at Church of St. Mary, Shakopee, with Father Terry Weber presiding. Pallbearers will be Randy Geiser, Brian Benesch, Richard Fuss, Dan Osuldsen, Cody Geiser, Ryan Geiser, Justin Little and Jason Reidner. Honorary pallbearers will be Lacey Sinn, Britni Osuldsen, Molly Osuldsen, Breanna Fuss, and Ashlee Fuss. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, with military honors provided by Fort Snelling Honor Guard.
