Kathleen Isabel Von Bank

Kathleen “Kathi” Von Bank, 64, of Mound, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Ridgeview Medical Center, Waconia.

She was born March 25, 1945 to parents David and Lois (Uran) Schindler in Minneapolis. She married Duane Von Bank on April 24, 1965 at Guardian Angels in Chaska. She was a former member of the Red Hat Association and a member of the American Legion in Chaska. Kathi loved to garden and enjoyed being with her family.

She will be loved and forever missed by her husband, Duane; sons, Jesse Von Bank of Shakopee, Mark (Christina) Von Bank of Champlin; sister, Roni (Dave) Schwalbe; brothers, Larry (Gail) Schindler, Joe Schindler; sister-in-law, Carol Schindler; many relatives and friends; special grandpuppy, Cinder.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Davey Schindler.

Visitation was Tuesday, June 30, from 2-5 p.m. at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, Shakopee, with the Celebration of Life service following at 5 p.m.

Arnold E. Kes

Arnold “Arnie” Kes, 68, of Baxter, Minn. and formerly of Lonsdale and New Prague, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at his home, of heart failure.Arnold KesArnold Kes

Born Oct. 29, 1940 in Lonsdale, Arnie was a son of Emil and Clara (Puncochar) Kes. He attended schools in New Prague and Prior Lake, and worked for a number of years in construction and maintenance positions. He married Mary Ann Will on Jan. 18, 1964 in New Germany. Mary Ann died Jan. 25, 1998 after a lung transplant.

Arnie was an avid bowler and enjoyed spending time outdoors, doing yard work and feeding deer in his back yard. His grandchildren affectionately called him “G-Pa.” Arnie loved coming to New Prague every year for Dozinky.

He is survived by daughters, Kim (Terry) Faust, Oakdale, Terri Jo (Joe) Erickson, Baxter, Tammi (Kevin) Hedlund, Baxter; six grandchildren; two brothers, Don (Diane) Kes, Prior Lake and Duane Kes, Balsam Lake, Wis.; four sisters, Margie (Glen) Schoenbauer, New Prague, Darlene Jewisson, Prior Lake, Jan (Richard) Schultz, Prior Lake LaVonne Dahlstrom, Glendale, Ariz; sister-in-law, Carol Kes. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brother, Roger; brothers-in-law, Gene Moss and Ed Jewisson.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 19, at 11 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Baxter with the Rev. Kevin Robson officiating. Pallbearers were Arnie’s grandchildren, Sara Erickson, Katie Erickson, Brandon Hedlund, Kallie Rose Hedlund, Sami Faust and Kyle Faust. Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Interment was at Evergreen Memorial Garden in Brainerd.

Marlene “Mar” Adamek

Marlene “Mar” Marie Adamek, 53, of Jordan, passed away at her home Thursday, June 25, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer.Marlene AdamekMarlene Adamek

Mar was a generous, loving and caring person who always put others before herself. She enjoyed camping, shopping, making blankets, and playing games with friends and family. Mar loved collecting singing and dancing stuffed animals, which made lots of noise. She had a big heart and a ton of love for everyone she came in contact with. We have been fortunate to enjoy her wonderful smile, giving personality, and witty pranks for the short time she spent with us.

Mar was born Oct. 3, 1955 in New Prague. She married Kevin Adamek on Aug. 17, 1974 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Jordan. Mar was a member of the Jordan Fire Department Auxiliary and the Council of Catholic Women. She was a day care provider for 16 years. Mar and Kevin also owned and operated Napa Auto Parts in Jordan and Chaska for 10 years. Most recently Mar worked at Flagship Bank for the last 10 years as the head teller.

Mar will be loved and forever missed by her husband, Kevin; children, Chad (Amanda) Adamek of Jordan, Stacie (special friend Chris Theis) of Prior Lake, Cory Adamek of Jordan, Tyler Adamek of Jordan and Tanner Adamek of Jordan; grandchildren, Logan, Emma and Mason; special companion, her dog, Haley; brothers, Butch (Joann) Link of Jordan, Jim Link of Lester Prairie, Gerry Link of Jordan; nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Tillie Link, and brother, Dick Link.

Visitation was Monday, June 29, from 4-8 p.m. at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, Jordan, and also one hour prior to the service at church.

Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, June 30, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Jordan, with Father Timothy Yanta and Father Jim Perkl presiding. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Jordan.

Leo R. Adelmann

Leo R. Adelmann, 64, of Belle Plaine, died Friday, June 26, 2009 in an auto accident near Dickinson, N.D.

Funeral services were Thursday, July 2, at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. The Rev. Mark Johnson officiated the services. Visitation was Wednesday, July 1, from 4-8 p.m. at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine. Visitation continued one hour prior to the services at church on Thursday morning. Veteran’s prayer service was Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment with military honors was at Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine.

Leo was born June 26, 1945 to Joseph and Lucia (Spear) Adelmann in Bloomington. He grew up in Prior Lake and graduated from Prior Lake High School in 1963. He served in the United States Army from 1964–1966 serving mostly in Germany. He married Sharon Busse on March 31, 1969 in Sioux Falls, S.D. The couple lived in Prior Lake for a time before moving to Belle Plaine in 1973. Leo worked for 39 years for the Silgan Container Plant in Savage. He was a member of the Wayzata American Legion, Historical Society of Belle Plaine and Fare for All Program of Jordan.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; children, Joanne Erickson of Plymouth, Minn., Joseph Adelmann of Belle Plaine, Julie Adelmann of Shakopee, Jodi Adelmann of Gibbon, Minn., Jean Adelmann of Arlington, Minn.; brother, Neil (Patricia) Flynn of Lydia; grandsons, Demitri Marbury, DeMarcus and Devion Adelmann.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John and Earl; many half-brothers and sisters.
