I graduated from Prior Lake

I graduated from Prior Lake High school last spring. Dr. O stepped down as principal in October of my senior year. Initially, we were told that he planned to return once he was better, so we set out to manage without him for awhile. It wasn't long, however, before it became apparent that he wouldn't be coming back to lead us. He was, however, still our principal. We had an acting principal, but Dr. O was still our leader.

Dr. O left the high school in October, and by June he had gotten significantly worse. But that didn't make him any less a principal to us. And apparently, he still saw himself as our leader too. He hand signed every single one of our 458 diplomas. That act of sacrifice, to me, meant more than any speech or hand shake or picture ever could.

The only good think about Dr. Olson leaving us now is that we, his former students, are home from college and can give him the honor he deserves.

When are we going to get the details of the new District 719 teachers contract?

Also, I trust stories are forthcoming on the budget discussions at the board meeting last night?

Not only that, but the story you have also states that they are listening to suggestions/ideas for programming and events, so you would think they will continue to involve seniors on what they want. I think some people just feel that the big bad city has no practical intelligence whatsoever.

From what I've gathered, the city did include seniors on the committee that made decisions about what to include in the new senior center. So, presumably, some of what will be offered was suggested by seniors.

Respectfully,
Dan Swanson
There is a lot of talent in the senior community, yet all society seems to do is get them to do meaninglesss activities that would depress them instead of inspire them. I visit senior buildings and I see people wandering the halls bored to death. I think the seniors should decide their use of this facility and the rich city should pony up the funds to accomplish their goals.

www.catholic.com is a resource that would more fully answer any questions on orthodox Catholic history, traditions and beliefs.

But from my perspective, Catholicism is a religion, not a democracy. People think that everything should change according to public opinion...but when some things change, it can cease to be what it originally was. For example, take Girl Scouts. If boys started to join, then it would cease to be Girl Scouts, wouldn't it? It would be Scouts. Every religion runs differently...and we join according to our hearts and faith...we don't join to change it according to our will. We join it because something about it, the way it is, raises us up the way nothing else on earth does. We submit ourselves to its history, its traditions, it's teachings. Like I said, these women are free to create their own religion where they can ordain women. But orthodox Catholics, including women like myself, are fine with Catholicism as it is and do not appreciate these women claiming to represent authentic Catholics. They do not. If they do not stand with the Pope, the Magisterium, the traditions, and Scripture etc. than they are not authentic Catholics. They are something they themselves created.

I am not Catholic, so I have no ground to base any type of argument on this subject. But the logic in the statement, "women will never become priests, like men will never become pregnant" is like comparing apples to oranges.

One is an idealistic religious value and the other is physiology.

My question being, with gender roles changing over the course of history should religion look into the "evolving" roles of men and women in society?

Have any Catholic values changed over the course of history? If so, why have they changed?

True Catholic women will

True Catholic women will never become priests, like men will never become pregnant. That's just not their role. Period end of story. If these women do not like the Catholic Church and it's stand on male ordination, they are free to start another church where they can be ordained. It is not Catholic of them to ordain themselves and they need to recognize this instead of forcing their views on the rest of us authentic Catholics who actually follow the religion as is. These women just want attention. McKloskey is supposed to be a wife and mother...she needs to take care of her family; THAT is her real calling from God that she is ignoring.

Grilling? Does a toaster

Grilling? Does a toaster oven count?

I'm not a true Minnesotan. I don't hunt. I don't fish. I don't snowmobile. I don't do boats.

You couldn't pay me to go to a lake cabin for a weekend. To do what? Waterski? Sit around the lake or a fire and drink? No thanks. I don't drink (well, maybe one or two beers a year and it has to be some sort of an occasion. And the beer is usually some sort of import beer I've never tried).

And I never grill out. If somebody makes it for me on the grill, I'll eat it. But I'm not grilling anything.

Perhaps, I should move!

Don't you get cold standing outside over the grill? I love how simple grilling out can be, but I'd much rather make something in the crockpot and stay inside once the temperatures drop.

I agree. A couple years ago I bought a gas grill. Now I BBQ all year long. There is something about grilling that makes weather less gloomy.
