I think most dogs are

I think most dogs are spooked by fireworks (and thunder and other loud noises they're not particularly used to). I know ours is! I plan to keep her indoors on July 4 and have the air conditioner running to try to block some of the noise. We've tried to "desensitize" her by tossing treats her way and acting like everything's peachy when fireworks have gone off, but so far, not so successful on that front.
Now if the 12-year-olds down the street would stop lighting off fireworks every day/evening from June to August, that might help, too.

This is one of those things

This is one of those things where a person needs to know their dog to know what they can handle.

One our dogs went with us to a fireworks display last year and he didn't react at all to the kabooms -- just curled up at our feet after he ate a big tomato off our host's deck rail (it was put there to ripen).

Our other dog, which we got after July 4 last year, probably wouldn't do so well. She gets frightened by loud music and various spontaneous noises -- but she'd probably run to us for comfort, rather than run away, though. We have an added bonus of being able to see the fireworks over Prior Lake from our house (and she barked like crazy at them during the winter festival) so we likely won't subject her to the fireworks or people at the display to her noise.

Yeah, every week, I want to

Yeah, every week, I want to take home the pet of the week, but I don't think that would fly at my house. Rainbow Rescue does good work...so hopefully these kitties will go to good homes soon.

I would so love to take

I would so love to take Winston (and Windup) home with me!

However, two dogs and a cat already at my house might feel differently :-(

We just dog-sat for a friend's 93-pound Doberman over the weekend and our cat was none to happy about that (Sam bordered on being a bit prey-driven with her). I can only imagine how she would react to two new kitties on a permanent basis to interrupt her household.

Gino and Baxter - sounds

Gino and Baxter - sounds like a new odd couple. Gino soubnds like the slick, hip metro-sexual, while Baxter is the rough and gruff lazy slob.

I don't think Gino would do

I don't think Gino would do too well in my household. He'd look a lot like dinner to Baxter...I'm not sure living in Baxter's stomach is the home Gino's looking for...

Adopt Gino, please! It's

Adopt Gino, please! It's like Groundhog's Day around the newspaper office. Gino keeps popping up in the "Pet of the Week" feature every few months. For my personal sanity, someone needs to give this rabbit a home. Plus, think of poor Gino - he's probably so demoralized he can't even eat his vegetables. Imagine the rejection this little bunny must be feeling as a "Pet of the Week" failure.

I hope Gino finds a good home. He has been on the Humane Society's adoption list for as long as I can remember! This little guy needs a place to lay his head.
