I did a double-take when I saw Kelly Macdonald playing a Southern wife in this movie, since she's actually a Scottish actress most famous for her role in "Trainspotting." She did a good job with the role.

Lori, have no fear, I also thought the ending was strange! However, given the overall vibe of the movie, I'm not surprised with how it ended...I don't think the Coen brothers or the screenwriters themselves wanted to hand the ending to us in a pretty box with clean corners and a pretty bow.
On a side note, I think Javier Bardem completely deserved his best supporting actor Oscar. His performance was oustandingly creepy!

I'm probably not the person to speak expertly on scary movies -- I had nightmares after I watched "Gremlins," which, apparently, isn't supposed to be scary. But, I swear I saw little movements everywhere outside for awhile after that.

Then there's "Children of the Corn" -- I watched it from behind a recliner with my hands over my eyes during part of the movie.

I'm not sure how scary I could watch. I tend to be easily frightened and my daughter never tires of popping out from behind a door to see me jump out of my skin.

The books for "The Shining" and "Silence of the Lambs" are so much scarier than the movies!

I recently watched "Zodiac" about the serial killer. I really enjoyed it because it had a plot, rather than just being violent for no reason. I thought Jake Gyllenhaal was great.

Yes, "The Exorcist" is another classic! That and "Poltergeist," which was on TV last night as well.

On Halloween, we ended up watching "Red Dragon," the third in the "Silence of the Lambs" series. I didn't even see the second one - "Hannibal" - but I thought this third one was actually quite good. Ralph Fiennes is an amazing actor. But as much of an incredible actor as Anthony Hopkins is, I could not stand the sound of his voice in this film. He sounded like the Wicked Witch of the West.

I think Hopkins should put Hannibal and Hannibal-like characters to rest. It's getting old, and he should invest his talents in other types of roles. Then again, he DOES make a great villain.

"The Darjeeling Limited" is a movie playing in theaters that is another one that men and women can agree on.

Wes Anderson, who also wrote, directed and produced "Bottle Rocket," "Rushmore," "The Royal Tenenbaums" and "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou," hit this one out of the ball park.

"The Darjeeling Limited" is just as quirky and hilarious as any of his previous films.

This movie, which is about the reunion of three brothers on a train ride through India in hopes to find spirituality, combines adventure, tragedy and comedy in a way that only Anderson can capture.

The movie begins with the adventure through India that is quickly veered off course when over-the-counter pain killers, Indian cough syrup, pepper spray and a deadly snake become involved.

Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody and Jason Schwartzman are a great trio in this movie. This movie is full of great writing and acting.

That's all the spoiling I am going to do with this one. If you like Wes Anderson check this movie out!!

Jessica Biel in a "great role"? She's very pretty, but I've yet to see her act as anything but herself in movies. That said, I like Edward Norton's acting, so maybe I'll rent it sometime.

"The Illusionist" is another movie I think men and women can agree is great.

Edward Norton and Jessica Biel play great roles and the writing is phenominal. The movie also does a good job of hiding the ending, showing that seeing isn't always believing.

I didn't look at the entire list, but as far as old films/musicals go, I love: "Top Hat" "Anchors Away" "Singing in the Rain" "Tea for Two" "White Christmas" "Breakfast at Tiffany's" "Lost Horizon" "Vertigo" "Rope" "Rear Window" and "Cool Hand Luke" off the top of my head.

How about James Bond and the Bourne series for movies guys and girls would both like?

I like action movies as long as they have a plot, some dialogue and keep the "blood and guts" factor at a low level.
