Gores - I agree with you on

Gores - I agree with you on this one. I could absolutely drop the "buy stuff I don't need" part of gatherings and just get together for wine and dessert/appetizers with the girls.
I'm much more likely to meet friends for margaritas on a patio in the summer than I am to show up at a cooking party. I bought a can opener at the last one because I knew it was the one thing I might actually use. I skip the jewelry ones completely because a lot of it isn't stuff I'd normally buy, and I would feel cheap/bad not getting something.
Women should have finance parties. We could all put $20-50 into our Roth IRAs, and then drink wine, etc; Sign me up for that event.

I just saw an ad in a magazine for the crocs "retro wedge." Across the top of the page, it says: "crocs for people who wouldn't be caught dead in crocs." Hmmm.

Do these naked subjects have some type of hygiene protocol they have to pass immediately before becoming my table? Who's checking on that, the Health Department? I require my subjects to make sure all cracks and crevice's are clean, don't forget behind your ears too. I'm also a tiny bit disturbed that you've tried this out first hand...? I like the article though, even though it portrays Minneapolis as a naked fest.

It's not classy, no matter how they want to spin this "naked-people-as-furniture trend."
It has shock value and it's creative, but overall, I'd say it's pretty pathetic. That's how people want to get their kicks - at a sushi buffet? Really? Gross.

I guess I'm not sure how to respond to this. At the time Guido was purchased, maintenance free was the only selling point I needed. I was in college and I couldn't picture myself saying phrases like, "I have to get home and let the dog out" or "I have to spend all my money to kennel my dog while I go on spring break" or "It's 90 degrees out, I can't wait to pick up steamy piles of..."
I needed a pet that was a little more independent. I just didn't understand that cats live to be 30 years old.

Those kind of cats sound fun. Multiple vets have referred to Guido as "unathletic". Basically, she lays around all day like Yellow Dog from the movie Funny Farm.

Mark, Mark, Mark.
Cats CAN

Mark, Mark, Mark.

Cats CAN be trained to do tricks but the trick is not to let them know they're in training. You've got to be one step ahead of the cat-itude of your pet.

My cat, for instance, plays fetch with a plastic ball about the size of a golf ball that looks like a neon green cage for a little silver bell.

She will carry it in her mouth to the top of the stairs, drop it down the stairs, chase it and fetch it and repeat. Of course, this is all done on her own and involves no interaction on the part of any human beings and the activity usual ends as soon as someone says, "Hey, look, Skeeter's (short for Mosquito) playing."

Then there's the game that she developed called "Tease the 85-pound German shepherd." It involves walking within 18 inches of the dog, meowing like she's being given a shower and running like crazy for the safety of the bathroom counter.

She outlived the shepherd and has now adapted the game to "Tease the pit bulls" (we have two). The puppy almost caught her once but Skeeter gave her a cross-cut with her clawless paw and left the stunned and confused dog to wonder what had happened. I just have to remember to never close the bathroom door.

As for you, I hope you didn't add insult to injury by using the blow dryer on that poor widdle sweet Boopy.

I still don't understand how

I still don't understand how you ever ended up with a cat when you hate them so. Besides her point that they are "maintenance-free" what in the world were her other selling points?... AND why in the world couldn't you argue that dogs are better? You're usually pretty good at arguing your point too. Hmmm, interesting...

Here's a little poem someone once sent me:
A dog is truly a man's best friend.
If you don't believe it, just try this experiment.
Put your dog and your wife in the trunk of the car for an hour.
When you open the trunk, who is really happy to see you!

From one dog owner to a wanna-be dog owner, I think the real question here is - Would you ever get another cat again?

Just say no to Crocs? No

Just say no to Crocs? No way!

My daughter loves her Crocs, especially since they've been jazzed up with Jibbitz.

Yes, Jibbitz (go to http://www1.jibbitz.com/ to buy your own).

Right now, she has team logos from the Twins and the Raiders, Linus and Snoopy, Thomas the Train, Piglet, her birth sign (Libra), the Chinese symbol from strong, a cute dog and a French horn on her stylish Crocs.

See for yourself - http://geocities.com/sfflhq/lingscrocs.jpg

Taking fashion advice from AOL is like taking morality lessons from Britney Spears.

Fashion blunder?
What?
Have you ever seen me in my crocs, hardly a blunder as I must say myself (because no one else will come to my rescue).
At least I haven't comitted any of the other fashion blunders: like fitting undergarmets, ultra low-rise jeans, overalls or velour sweatpants with advertising.
If those garments are in your wardrobe don't kill the messenger, AOL is the one calling them "blunders."
What does AOL know, anyways.

Is it fair to say Crocs are to this generation what jelly shoes were to my generation? We all wanted jellies as kids. Now, I wonder how I could have worn plastic shoes every day?!? One of many fashion blunders I've committed over the years. I'm just waiting to get swooped up by "What Not to Wear".

Well, well, well. AOL has

Well, well, well. AOL has voted Crocs one of the five fashion blunders of 2007 with the following comments:

"These should NEVER, EVER cross the threshold of your home or be in the presence of strangers -- unless your name begins with Dr. Even the launch of a new fashion-conscious line this summer didn't help their image. If you absolutely must, then opt for the Sassari Wedge or Athens which aren't nearly as hideous as the original."

The entire fashion list can be found here: http://shopping.aol.com/pages/Best-and-Worst-Trends-of-2007/20207

And, if I was going to buy Crocs, it would be the original over the Sassari Wedge -- those are just weird. Also, I saw some lined Crocs at the mall that felt cozy so there's still the possibility ...
