Time to revive the wine

Time to revive the wine blog - it's been a while.

I tried Greg Norman Estates Pinot Noir over the weekend. If you can tell, I'm a pinot noir fan. (I'd like to clarify that I was a pinot fan before it was cool after the movie "Sideways" came out...).

My other comment is a wine-related question. Sangria seems to have made a comeback this summer. Does anyone have a great sangria recipe they're willing to share?

Based on the holiday wine

Based on the holiday wine story last week, I tried a glass of Smoking Loon pinot noir. I can understand why local store owners recommend it. It had a stronger fruit taste than some other pinots I've tried, and it would probably please a crowd for a holiday dinner.

I'm partial to Chardonnay, and my favorite (and it's cheap - only about $10) is Bodega Norton, from Argentina. They have some reds as well. VERY good wine for very little money.

If you like white wines, I'd recommend that you try a Riesling. The Germans make some good ones. There's a bottle of Starling Castle made from golden-green grapes grown in the Mosul Valley that's perfect for my next light meal of chicken breast, Caesar salad, etc. Mmmm.

There's a lot to learn about wine, and it's always fun to find the "perfect" bottle. Let us know your favorites (or disappointments) in the journey.
