At 42, I too caucused for

At 42, I too caucused for the first time. I arrived at 6:30 (in Prior Lake) and was glad I did, for I heard others walked more than a block to get there. I got to park in the parking lot, yeah. As windyhill wrote, most just cast their presidential preference and quickly left. I am not only curious but just feel the call to be more active at this stage of my life and also volunteered to be a delegate at the next level. What was interesting to me was that everyone who volunteered had to state who they were going to support for not only the senate, but for president as well. There were very loud proponents in the (standing room only) room that I was in who insisted on this. There was one soft spoken comment from one volunteer, "Isn't this still America"? He backed out, as did two others, rather than have to say aloud who they supported. The only improvement I can think of is allowing everyone to have the right to cast their preferential ballot. I know people who work afternoon shift who had no way to do so. At least one local employer would not let employees leave to vote. Perhaps there can be a time slot during the day?

I went to my DFL caucus in

I went to my DFL caucus in Dakota County. I have to admit that, as a 50+ year old, it was the first time that I have gone to one and I did not decide to go until I left work Tuesday. I had looked up the location on Monday, but had not yet decided if I would go. The parking lot was jammed and the line was very long. Most just wanted to cast a Presidential preference ballot and then they left. I met with about 14 residents of my township and two of them read platform resolutions that were approved and passed along to the next level (benefits for 911 dispatchers, funding for transporation and infrastructure, and affordable healthcare). I did volunteer to be a delegate at the next level just because I am curious about the whole process.

Did you caucus?

Record numbers of Americans came out Tuesday night for Super Tuesday caucuses. Were you one of them?

If so, where did you caucus and how did it go?

Were there long lines?

Did you get to submit a presidential preference ballot?

What did you think of the process?

How could it be improved in the future?
