What baffles me about some of the Chris Lind supporters that post here is that, at least in what they type, it comes across that they truly believe that Chris Lind was the only caring member of the Prior Lake staff before he was fired and would solve the kid's/school's problems now because no one cares like him.

As far a My Space, I've seen it mentioned a few times and educators have NO BUSINESS being on My Space because it crosses over a very fine line. If a students can be suspended from sports for having a picture of them drinking on their My Space page, then teachers, faculty and staff who choose to have a page should be subject to the same standards in the comments, material and photos they post. That's why it's an issue.

The story is newsworthy for exactly the reasons that Lori layed out. If that's beyond your scope of understanding, you might as well not try to understand why stories are covered.

I realize I may not have been clear. I do not believe Mr. Lind "disgraced" the community. I also believe he had every right to run for school board. I don't believe he shoud resign.

I just wanted to point out that not every vote for Mr. Lind was a refutation or rebuke of the school board's decision to fire him.

Mr. Westerhaus made the same assumption - that the votes for Mr. Lind were a rebuke of his authority and judgement. I just think things aren't always so simple.

Cindy, I understand what you say and agree we do need to move forward. Chris does need to understand, however, once you put your name on the ballot and get elected the rules change. I hope this is not how he deals with every issue the next three years.

What bothers me is that we have had TWO BOMB THREATS to the high school in THIS SCHOOL YEAR and yet here we adults are talking about Chris Lind and whether or not he should release his employment record and whether or not he should be allowed to have a My Space page.

Maybe if there were more concered adults like Chris around the high school we wouldn't be dealing with BOMB THREATS!

You may not have said it Howe, but two others in this thread DID and I would really like to know what Chris did that was so disgraceful!

As far as the MySpace page goes....I have one and I am a bit older than Chris. I have one because I have friends across the country who are younger than me who have My Space pages and also so that I can see who my child has on HIS My Space page.

Lots of adults have My Space and Facebook pages. It's not all that odd.

I won't say that Chris has disgraced the community, however, a school board member with a My Space is bothersome to me. I just wish Chris would answer the question whether or not he is going to sue the district. As an elected official I believe he has a responsibility to answer to the public on this issue.

Again I have to ask....what did he do to "disgrace" the community? The paper did an admirable job covering the TRUTH of Chris' termination. Any of the other rumors (and yes I have heard the whisper campaign) are just that rumors that have even the Superintendent has said were false.

Let me turn the question around. We KNOW that Chris was fired for insubordination. How is that "disgracing the community"?

This is the problem with drawing conclusions from votes - you make assumptions which may not be true. People voting for Mr. Lind may not be stating that his firing was unjustified. There are other reasons people may have voted for him.
