I have family that live in Odessa & Midland, Texas; one of the places where U.S. Oil is making it big right now, also one of the places where our president and his family made and are still making LOTS of money.
Check This Out: My brother said that people doing welding in the oil fields are making from $1,200. to $1,800. A DAY, and the story around Odessa, TX is that they expect this "BOOM" to last about 10 years!
Are WE willing to pay these outrageous wages, and pay whatever U.S. OIL wants to charge us? These kinds of extravagant wages are what we pay for at the pump; no wonder gasoline is at $4.00 a gallon.
As I have done for about a month now, I am going to urge you, the people, of the United States of America, to boycott filling up your cars, and when you go in to pay, tell the cashier that you made it a point NOT to fill up; tell them that
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
I also need help carrying signs. if anyone is interested, please let me know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe if the old hippie had...
Back to page topMaybe if the old hippie had payed attention while he was growing up, he would have learned basic economics.
One, Gas Stations are not making huge profits. Profits on Refining and Marketing (Gas Stations) are down over 30%.
As for the evil oil companies - 94% of all the oil and gas that is drillable is controlled by state run oil companies, not the US companies the old hippie is out protesting. So even if Exxon wanted to double (or half) the price of oil, because most of the US oil fields have been put off limits, they can have very little effect on the oil market.
So please yell at the teenager at the cash register and run around with a sign, that will show those foreign oil companies who's boss.
Once a Hippie, always a Hippie - Run around, holding stupid signs, yell at innocent people, feeling superior about yourself and accomplish nothing.
Yeah Robert, those hippies...
Back to page topYeah Robert, those hippies are always up to no good. Things like protesting for equal rights and eliminating a military draft were all about yelling at innocent people, feeling superior and holding stupid signs.
For the record, I have seen Giles at the gas stations and he is not yelling at anyone!
While I was out there I saw responses of support numerous times from others and never saw him harass or yell at anyone. He was nothing but full of respect to everyone I saw him encounter.
Economics 101: Supply and...
Back to page topEconomics 101: Supply and Demand. That's true for oil, and for laborers in the oil field. Someone needs to inform the Old Hippie that oil prices are set by markets, not by oil companies.
But I suggest he institute a complete boycott of everything that has gone up in price, including electricty (unplug that fridge and TV), food (no more stops at Village Market, Rainbow, Cub or Target) and state taxes! That'll show 'em!!
I'm sorry, but you're tilting at the wrong windmill here. Your anger would better be addressed to our politicians...and get rid of anyone that bows at the alter of environmental extremism as a start.
