With Valentine's Day approaching, what suggestions do you have for gifts?
We have a week until Feb. 14, so there's still time to track down a perfectly sentimental (sappy, mushy, ridiculous) present.
I always end up at Walgreens testing out the singing/dancing stuffed animals. It's easy to get sidetracked.
In the end, I usually go for cooking a nice dinner and a card. Last year, I got extra creative and made fortune cookies with fortunes (like conversation hearts.)
What's the best (or worst) V-day gift you've received?

The best Valentine’s Day...
Back to page topThe best Valentine’s Day gift I ever got was one of those valentines you buy in a box as a kid – but I got it in college. My friend happened to find a box of old Ninja Turtle valentines at a discount store in the middle of nowhere, and she gave one to me. It was so unexpected, nostalgic and hilariously old school that I remember it every Valentine’s Day.
Working in the restaurant...
Back to page topWorking in the restaurant industry, I have worked more Valentine's Days than I have enjoyed. But the best gift I was given was last Valentine's Day, when a server who also had to work the Hallmark holiday, made me a music compilation of the funniest and cheesiest love songs one could imagine. So there's an idea for those of us who have to serve all the love birds on Valentine's Day.
When I was able to participate in Valentine's Day, I enjoyed a home-cooked meal over good conversation and a bottle of wine or two.
The best Valentine's Day...
Back to page topThe best Valentine's Day gift is just a sweet card and a nice dinner. My husband is finally on board with this plan.
When we started dating, he seemed to have no concept of why Valentine's Day would mean something to a woman. The one year he didn't even get me a card, he found out what it means to me!
He would say, "I don't need a holiday to do nice things," and I agree 100 percent. But there's nothing wrong with still recognizing Valentine's Day. After all, any holiday centered around chocolate, dinner, wine and telling someone you love him or her can't be a bad day, right?
How do you get what you want...
Back to page topHow do you get what you want for Valentine's Day? Put it in your blog.
I celebrated V-day early this year because my boyfriend will be out of town for work. I got a stuffed "honey bee" that whistles. (He says he didn't read my blog about liking the cheesy singing-dancing animals, but I'm suspicious.)
There's still time to drop hints on our Valentine's Day blog for those of you celebrating Wednesday.
