What are your favorite scary movies?

My all-time favorite is "The Shining." Just about every character in that movie is Creepy with a capital C. The boy who plays Danny has a particularly eerie stare.

Can you recommend a good movie for Halloween viewing?

I really enjoy the "Saw"...

I really enjoy the "Saw" movies. "Saw I" isn't all that good in the acting department but the story carries it. "Saw II" has good acting and even better story. Yes, it is actually one of the few sequels that beats the original.
The movies are more scary than spooky as there isn't any paranormal activity; just things that could plausibly happen in real-life (although highly unlikely) The twists in the stories are "Sixth Sense"-esque and keep me wanting more.
I'm going to "Saw III" tongiht with expectations that it will be even better than the first 2.
