I recently read something on line in one of the daily papers where they interviewed Archbishop Harry Flynn about Lent. He said he doesn't "give anything up" for Lent, rather he "does something" for Lent. I like that idea because it is more positive. I'm not giving anything up for Lent, but by the end of the day, I hope to find something to give to Lent. I don't know if it will be as spiritual as the Archbishop, however, I hope to find something nobel that is geared towards other people and making myself a better person.
It is a nice thought to not only "give up" things at lent, but to also "give." There are so many small acts that can make a big difference in the world.
