In the kidney donor story I wrote this week, a quote from Bill Jesse stuck with me all week long, so I have to write about it.
Jesse said to me, “If more people in the world would do things like this [donate to people in need] for others, what a wonderful place this would be.”
Bill is right. I hope people open their hearts and minds to the troubles others may be having around them. This world is a wonderful place; but how much more wonderful could it be if we accepted our neighbors for who they are and lent them a helping hand in times of need?
It may not be in the form of organ donors. Feed my Starving Child is a great organization that fights hunger. World Vision does remarkable things for impoverished people all over the world. Our brave young soldiers are helping Iraqi's gain freedom everyday. Firefighters risk their lives for strangers everyday. Police officers put themselves aside to assist those in trouble. Teachers touch the hearts of our kids in many different ways. Doctors, nurses and social workers all contribute to communities and touch lives in many ways.
I can't list every profession that makes a difference in the world, as there are hundreds, but think about how you can make a difference.
What in your personality could change the world?
If you have other stories that should be told about remarkable people blog about them, drop us a line, so we can highlight them.
This world can be dark, but let's not forget, how wonderful a world we do live in. And how caring people are and can be.
