I won the spelling bee in fourth grade! I got all embarrassed when everyone cheered for me. Then in fifth grade, I purposely spelled "sergeant" wrong because I didn't want attention on me and I didn't want to be in the bee anymore.
I see a trend here.
I also won the spelling in fourth grade. I also won a spelling bee once in third grade. My favorite science project, which didn't win an award, was making a paper mache volcano that erupted. That was awesome.
6th grade spelling bee winner here, too!
But my favorite school project, which also was in 6th grade, was the "Leaving on a Jet Plane" slideshow for music class. My friend and I cut out magazine pictures, glued them between this "slide material" (it was 1977, by the way!), inserted them into cardboard slides and arranged them in the slide wheel. When it was show time, my friend Peggy cued the John Denver-covered Peter, Paul and Mary tune on the school's record player while I worked the slide wheel. I'm pretty sure everyone loved it because it was "so creative and cool" ... at least that's how I am going to remember it!
