I don't have a problem with my tax dollars going to schools. Afterall, that's why we pay taxes - to have better schools, infrastracture, more police on the streets and so fourth.
However, where's the accountability? It seems like every other year school districts ask for more money. And if you don't vote for it, you get the old, "You don't care about the kids speech." Which is totally bogus.
I remember years back District 196 asked for a huge levy. It got it and then weeks later it came out that the school district had $16 million in its reserve funds. I know a lot of people in that area who are very upset that they were manipulated into thinking the district had no money.
Like our government, schools need to have more accountability on how the dollars they given are spent. But instead, it always seems like the hand is always out.
