I agree. It is too crowded. Too much clutter. Not very intuitive. Hard to find what you are looking for.

Web design, development and usability is my career, and and I have consulted for some very large web sites, including some other newspapers and other media companies...and I will say this, while I like this site cuz it's local, ANY site that the top 1/2 of the screen is ads and header and the width does not comfortably fit in a 1024 pixel wide window needs some real work. There ARE better ways to do it.

I mean seriously, the primary navigation splits thru the center of the screen in a 1024x768 window...that's bad!

I can see in 30 seconds obvious changes that could improve the site 100%. This site actually COULD be a very usable, friendly, and FASTER web site.
