My daughter loved making her own "tortilla treats," so I always kept a package of flour tortillas in the fridge. We experimented with some ingredients (some good, some bad).
Here are a couple of her favorites:
* Spread peanut butter and jelly on the tortilla and top with a banana, then roll up.
* Spread Western salad dressing on the tortilla, cover with a slice or two of thin deli ham and top with a string cheese and roll up. A variation of this can be made "pizza style," with the ham torn into pieces and topped with shredded mozzarella and then put into the microwave or toaster oven until the cheese melts.
My kids like graham crackers topped with peanut butter, banana slices and chocolate syrup. They're great without the syrup, but the kids seem more willing to eat 'em up with a little squirt of chocolate.
I can't buy celery without knowing that at least one stalk will be turned into ants on a log!
I've never eaten cheese slices with apples -- unless you count melting a slice or two over apple pie. It's the whole sweet-salt effect and I think the cheese ups the buttery flavor of the crust, as well. Looks gross, sounds gross, tastes great!
My grandma used to make amazing cream cheese frosting, and my sister and I would dip our graham crackers into the frosting. It's not the healthiest of snacks, but I think it's OK for children as long as they don't over indulge.
And let's not forget the standby of PB&J on toast.

Did anyone eat apples with cheese slices for snacks? I always see that in Kraft ads for back-to-school, and I think it looks gross...but who knows...
