Belize is my plan one of these days. Just gotta sell my darling wife on the idea ... and save up!

Check out the Blue Hole, apparently one of the greatest places to scuba dive. Oh yeah, I'll have to learn that, too.

Maybe I'll go a few years from now ...

Jamaica mon.

I went to Negril with my brother two years ago and had the time of my life.

The weather is gorgeous.

The beaches are white.

The water is warm.

The cocktails are cold.

The jerk food is exquisite.

And the people are very friendly.

I think we spent about $1,800 per person for airfare, all-inclusive five-star hotel and spending money at the clubs and tours outside of the hotel for 10 days.

Would do it again.

Will do it again.

If you're going to Jamaica, let me know and I will give you some great advice that wasn't in "Frommer's Guide" before you go.

There is "travel" and then there is "vacation."

To me, travel means touring museums, checking out restaurants, walking (a lot), and exploring new places or cultures.

Vacation only requires sipping margaritas and getting a tan.

On my first vacation to Europe, I covered almost every museum in London and got a blister from walking so much. I loved it.Trafalgar Square lionsTrafalgar Square lions

The same with New York City. Dashing around the subway and seeing Broadway shows was thrilling.

With travel, there is a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day.

Tower BridgeTower BridgeIn Hawaii, I got a touch of island fever. I'm not good at sitting on the beach (thank goodness for patient travel companions...)

I ended up touring every palace, military museum and submarine tour on Oahu. (Pearl Harbor really is worth visiting.OahuOahuUSS Arizona Memorial, Pearl Harbor, HawaiiUSS Arizona Memorial, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii)

It was good to see pineapples grow in their natural habitat. The flora and fauna is breath-taking.

Plus, the trip fulfilled my dream of renting a jeep and cruising on an island. (I've always wanted to do that.)

Where to next? Mazatlan, Belize, and Cozumel are on my travel list. I'd like to scuba dive somewhere, and I may have to give sipping margaritas on the beach another shot. Let me know if you have suggestions for dive travel!

I love to travel and I REALLY love to vacation. My ideal vacation is laying in the hot sun sipping a slushy cold drink while a nice gentlemen named Miguel or Jose brings me chips and salsa. Yes ~ Mexico is my preferred destination. Anywhere in Mexico. The natives there are friendly and appreciate my business. My husband and I have been to various destinations and we are headed to Puerto Vallarta the end of February for 4 nights and 5 days at an all inclusive place. No work. No children. No kidding ~ I am excited and have already started to go tanning in anticipation of our departure. We usually look for the best deals out there ~ and Mexico usually is the place.

I think I might dust off my suitcase this weekend and make sure the zipper works...........

It's good to have friends. Especially in tropical places.

A friend from college e-mailed me with an invite to Antigua, where she's located with her medical school program (lucky gal).

I'm considering the trip. It's ridiculously cold outside and, although I know next to nothing about Antigua, I gather it's warmer there than here; a huge point in its favor.

I'll have a free place to crash, now I just need to track down inexpensive airfare.

Any ideas on flights and/or bargain travel in general?

If you can't wait to see the Twins play outdoors in a new arena here, go to a game on the road.

A slew of Twins fans joined me in Kansas City to watch our team take on the Royals.

In fact, it looked like the fan ratio was 50:50.The Twins at Kansas City, Saturday, April 21. (Photo by Joanna Miller)The Twins at Kansas City, Saturday, April 21. (Photo by Joanna Miller)
