GOLF Magazine reports that Tiger Woods will opt out of the Ryder Cup and several tournaments while he undergoes knee surgery. He'll miss the remainder of 2008 play, according to the magazine.
What will this mean for golf? Will network ratings go down? Will the break give other emerging talents a chance to shine?

It means somebody else will...
Back to page topIt means somebody else will win a major title - the British or PGA - and for the rest of his life he'll have to unfairly live with .... "So and So won a major, but Tiger didn't play in that one."
And that won't be fair, especially it's a player winning his first major title.
Ratings will go down, but the golf world will survive. It's not like Tiger is going into an ecopod for a decade.
