Britney: Train wreck or exploited train wreck?

» Read similar stories filed under:

Rapper Kanye West said on a Sirius satellite radio show today that MTV exploited Britney Spears by allowing her to open Sunday night's Video Music awards before she was ready to perform.

The Associated Press reported that West addressed the Britney debacle on "The Morning Mash Up."

"Man, they were just trying to get ratings, and they knew she wasn't ready and they exploited her," West reportedly said.

West went on to say he, in fact, should have opened the show. He has said he will boycott MTV because he feels the network slighted him by not giving him the opening slot -- and for failing to give him any of the five awards for which he was nominated.

On the day the world is observing the sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks, West is whining about losing video awards. What do you think about his statements?

Kanye is known for being arrogant - it's sort of his thing. He probably is right about Brittany, though. I'm not sure who would book her for an opening act unless they were looking at the train-wreck factor for ratings. It's too bad she can't take herself out of the limelight for a minute to get her act together.

Britney is a hack...

For me, I liked these comments from Kanye.

Singer Kanye West (who is black), in a promotional TV appearance with Mike Meyers (who is white) for the NBC telethon to raise money for Katrina victims.

[Kanye -- not reading from teleprompter, as planned]: "I hate the way they portray us in the media. If you see a black family it says they are looting if you see a white family it says they are looking for food. (...) those are my people down there. (...) "We already realize a lot of the people that could help are at war now fighting another way and they've given them permission to go down and shoot us."

[Meyers, visibly uncomfortable, reads from prompter script. Camera cuts back to Kanye, who pauses, then says]

"George Bush doesn't care about black people!"

[camera abruptly switches back to a stunned Myers, then to actor Chris Tucker]

Britney sank her own ship by reportedly being drunk before her performance and missing rehearsal. I'll give MTV credit for knowing what works for ratings though but seeing a replay of her performance a few nights ago, it was painful. She's never been known for her musical prowess but she couldn't even nail the choreographed dance moves. She seemed wobbly at best and needs to lay low and get her act together before she tries comeback number two.

I dont mind that she blew the performance i mean we watch americas funniest home videos and laugh at people who do similar things, then you have idol contestants becoming famous for being to funny when they think they are stars. So let britney mess up fall down do whatever were all just human she just happens to be one more person on tv. Im heading to the uk i just got some leeds festival tickets i know shes no there but the artists in the line up are just as good in my opinion.
