Never "stolen from" - my car has been "added to." I found a large rock in the driver's seat one night I left it unlocked by mistake. A prankster perhaps?
The all-time cheesiest car incident is when someone bashed out my sister's tail light and left a tray of leftover nacho cheese and chips in the opening. When the repairs don't meet the insurance deductable, you have to keep a sense of humor, I guess.
Rocks and nachos...how bizarre!
My husband, who has had three cars stolen in his life, had someone steal his car (an '86 Celebrity wagon) several years ago, drive it 10 blocks and abandon it. Funny thing - they took a box of tools he had in it and neatly set it on the curb outside his house before they continued on.
This was my unlocked car theft story. It has previoulsy appeared in our rants and raves.
Boo to sketchy car-prowlers. Every once in a while people forget to lock their car. It is a lapse in judgment, not an invitation to steal coinage. Sure, I got off lucky because I don’t keep anything of value in my car, but I hate the fact that someone was in my driveway going through my car. OK, you got all of $2.79 from my change holder, I hope the police catch you in the act someday; and you end up with a several hundred dollar ticket and a record for taking such a stupid chance. Respect your neighbors. And by neighbors I mean everyone.

Who knows what lurks in the minds of thieves?
