Lakers senior Jake Kahnke figures to become the first two-time state wrestling champion in school history on Saturday, March 1.
Prior Lake has had nine individual state champions in its history, including Kahnke, but no one has won more than one title. Yet.
After steamrolling the field en route to his third straight section title this past weekend, Kahnke will look to cap off his high school career with a second straight unbeaten season.
And he seems to be a mortal lock to do it.

Retired fireman Wemer William Weber III (Bill) passed away peacefully Wednesday Feb. 27, 2008 in Mesa, Arizona of cancer.
Bill was born Jan. 28, 1941 in Prior Lake, where he graduated high school in 1959. He spent 25 years on the Prior Lake Volunteer Fire Department. Bill married Mary Ann Wacker on Dec. 29, 1962 and had four children: Jon, Jerry, Connie, and Chris. He is also survived by grandchildren Jessica, Beau, Jake, Jason, Jackie, Jenna, Whitney, Gabrielle, Wyatt, and great-grandson Jordyn.

A 20-year-old Burnsville woman was charged with two counts of second-degree driving while impaired (DWI) and one count of failure to stop for an accident by the Scott County Attorney’s Office this week for hitting a Prior Lake squad car Feb. 10.

The first two days (Feb. 27-28) of the state wrestling tournament were not kind to Prior Lake.
After just two of their 10 individuals made it through to the championship semifinals, the fifth-ranked Lakers dropped a heartbreaking 28-22 decision to fourth-ranked Albert Lea in the Class AAA team quarterfinals Thursday night at Xcel Energy Center.

A rowdy fan was tackled by a Shakopee activities director during a boys basketball game Tuesday after the Prior Lake-Savage student ran onto the court and interrupted a free throw.
