According to an inside source, Gophers football coach Glen Mason and his entire coaching staff have been fired.

A news conference is expected for later today to officially announce the move, but a member of the staff said coaches had already received the news.

Senior guard Austin Haugh scored a team-high 17 points to help the Lakers rally for a 54-53 victory over Rogers in the fifth-place game at the Tartan Invitational Dec. 29.

Prior Lake (5-5 overall) also got 13 points from Kyle Beckman and 11 more from Tor Anderson.

Backed by 24 saves from sophomore goaltender Brianna Schulz and goals from Kaytlin Bohr and Sydney O'Keefe, the Laker girls captured the Green Division title at the Schwan Cup with a 2-0 victory over St. Francis Dec. 29.

Frohnie Busse, 98, of Prior Lake, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006 at The Lodge on Natchez in Elko.

Visitation is Tuesday, Jan. 2 from 9-11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Prior Lake. Funeral service follows at 11 a.m. at the church.

Backed by two goals from senior Ali Minelli, the Laker girls topped Richfield 4-1 in the Green Division semifinals at the Schwan Cup Dec. 28.

The Lakers also got a goal and an assist from Sydney O'Keefe and a goal from Amanda Gullickson. 

The Prior Lake wrestlers went 1-2 at the Henry Sibley Duals on Dec. 27, topping Zumbrota-Mazeppa and falling to Owatonna and Henry Sibley.

The Lakers got wins from Tanner Carlisle (112 pounds), Tyler Trattles (119), Levi Kropp (125), Matt Borgerding (130), Calvin Wolff (135), Chris Stevermer (145), Eric Muldoon (152), Dawson Streifel (160) and Jake Kahnke (189) in a 43-24 victory over Zumbrota-Mazeppa.
